EU settlement scheme
Want clarity and to develop a plan of action to deal with the impact of Brexit? Need to understand what the negotiations, decisions and possible outcomes mean for European Union (EU) nationals’ and their families’ status and right to live and work in the UK?
At Harbour HR, we are able to provide a bespoke service to any individual or organisation – helping guide them through the changes, address the implications, costs and common pitfalls of the process.
This includes ascertaining what category the individual and their family will qualify within, preparation and submission of the documentation necessary to secure the correct and appropriate status and a dedicated account team member to answer specific enquiries.
We are also currently running clinics to provide specific advice on document preparation, the application process and implications to consider.
The EU Settlement Scheme has now been agreed between the UK Government and the European Union and will be open by 30 March 2019.
A system is being introduced whereby EU nationals that have been in the UK can apply for settled status or indefinite leave to remain (permanent residence) if they have already resided in the UK for five years or more, or pre-settled status (leading to permanent residence) if less than five years, which they can then extend to settled status or indefinite leave to remain after completing five years. The deadline for applications is 30 June 2021.
It is anticipated that the EU settlement scheme will go ahead regardless of the Brexit outcome, although the full details of the scheme are still subject to approval by the UK Parliament.
